I love discovering surprising vintage items on modern main streets. This New England downtown is home to an historic independent movie theatre. The Strand was built in 1924, and according to its website operated as a vaudeville theatre and movie house until the 1970s. It reopened in the mid 1990s. At the time I took this photograph it also happened to be across the street from a shop with vintage movie memorabilia. I loved the juxtaposition of these two scenes. The store across the street had closed when I last visited the town, making this image and the others I captured unique.
